Project Information: This project involved the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge over Accotink Creek in Fort Belvoir. New caissons were drilled and poured for new abutments. The new bridge included a 120ft steel span, concrete deck, and parapet walls with formliner. Concrete debris generated by the demolition of the existing bridge was recycled onsite and used in the new roadway approach, which was raised 8ft on each side. Also, extensive stream protection was utilized to keep all debris out of Accotink Creek, maintaining a pristine waterway throughout the project.
